Inland is an ongoing photographic project that reflects about the social relations and identity construction of migrants in London. Through the use of images of landscape my intention is to understand how other nationalities negotiate their identity in a foreign country. Images of landscape exist in those places to create ambience whilst simultaneously depicting customers’ pre-existing ideas. This is how these spaces appeal and contribute to the collective imaginary. Yet, the existing pictures play the role not just of representing a specific geographic origin but of performing as an object full of layered meaning, appearing as ‘both medium for and outcome of action and previous histories of action’ (Tilley 1994:23). In other words, the pictures of landscapes capture in part the active relationship that the subjects establish with a place beyond those walls.

Tierra Interior es un proyecto en curso que reflexiona sobre la relaciones sociales y culturales que se establecen con el territorio. El paisaje como espacio imaginado, donde aquello que se representa es la idealización de un espacio ajeno. Gran parte de las fotografías de Tierra Interior retratan las imágenes de paisajes de restaurantes de migrantes en Londres. Entre las fotos hay una única excepción, aquella primera imagen de la serie que retrata mi propio espacio imaginado, aquella que visibiliza mi experiencia como Chilena viviendo en un país extraño.
